ST.
COLMCILLE’S COMMUNITY SCHOOL
NEW STUDENTS
On the second of September St. Colmcille’s C.S. opened
its doors to its fourth set of new first years. Our school
crest has now been finalised and it was lovely to see all
of the new first years in their uniforms, as they are the
first year group to have the crest embroidered on their jumpers.
Thank you to the parents involved in the organisation of
the school crest, Mary Jo Glynn and Nessa McKiernan for all
their hard work throughout the year.
FIFTH YEAR AND TRANSITION YEAR
This year marks the beginning of the first fifth year group
to start the Leaving Certificate syllabus. It also is the
first year that the school has a group of students to participate
in the Transition Year programme. A full induction week
was held for the transition years which included a team
building trip to Blessington Adventure Centre, which they
attended with their class tutors and T.Y. Co-ordinator
Ms. Ahern. The trip was hugely successful, with staff of
the centre complimenting the students on their excellent
behaviour and participation.

An introduction evening was held in the school on the 4th
September for both students and parents together. It was
the first meeting to take place in the school that both students
and parents attended together. Students were asked to take
some responsibility for their own learning by signing a contract.
The evening was extremely successful and informative for
parents and students alike.
