It was in 1982 when a newly arrived PP, Fr David Weakliam,
thought it would be a good idea to re-start the parish newsletter.
(Well it seemed like a good idea at the time - just joking!) Everybody
is now familiar with the Knocklyon News that wings its way to your
letterbox carrying every scrap of local news. Good job they got the
spelling right on the subsequent issues. For those of you who weren't
even born back then, we have reproduced the opening page with the
first editorial in December 1982.

It's nice to see that the Newletter Team still have something
to aspire to - any volunteers to produce a weekly issue??? No,
thought not!
The newsletter is a credit to all those involved in
its production, and people
from
outside
the
parish
who come
across
it never fail
to be impressed by it. So it was only a matter of time before
that formal recognition came. In the Summer 1994 issue we found
this little piece of news - rather modestly tucked away.

Re-starting the newsletter obviously meant that something had
gone before, and sure enough when we went looking we found documents
dating back to 1976. The late Fr Sean Dunne issued a parish bulletin
just a little over a year into the life of the parish. Click on the
